Priorities
My Values
I Value Connecting Priorities & Fostering Communication. When we think about our priorities for Johnson County, none of them stand alone. We need leaders who understand how to connect our priorities to maximize resources and build a strong and healthy community for all residents.
As your commissioner, I will be a voice for all residents and businesses in District Three as well as the broader County. I will be accessible and a source for complete and accurate information. I will build an understanding of the role and responsibilities of county government.
My Priorities:
Fiscal Responsibility is a clear understanding of where all our resources come from, how they are being used, and if we are getting the maximum return on our investment, especially our tax dollars. I want to ensure resident priorities are being reflected in how we budget resources.
Public Safety has been an area of focus for me during the last seven years as an appointed member of Johnson County’s Community Corrections Advisory Board and the Criminal Justice Advisory Council. Community safety for all residents starts with understanding our challenges, resources, and partnership opportunities within law enforcement and emergency services.
Quality of Life and Housing are key priorities that impact the health and well-being of our most important resource – our residents. Additionally, job and wage growth and business retention ensure economic opportunities for residents. Businesses need a ready and able workforce, an inviting environment, and housing solutions across their employee spectrum. Housing solutions are needed for all ages and stages of life. Well-maintained libraries, parks, and recreational amenities support safe and thriving neighborhoods. Access to mental, health, and environmental solutions improve resident outcomes and supports public safety.
Healthy Civic Engagement, because how we choose to show up matters. Recognizing all residents and employers want a vibrant Johnson County should inform our civic engagement interactions. We may have different views regarding how we want to achieve a great community, but forming one vision we all can work towards requires mutual respect, and the ability to listen and work together in a productive, effective manner. I have spent my career bringing folks to the table to work on shared priorities.
